RMO Payments Network

A proprietary closed-loop payment network built to power faster, more secure, and more affordable transactions across the entire RMO ecosystem.

Our Network

The infrastructure behind every RMO transaction.

The RMO Payments Network is a proprietary payment infrastructure that authorizes, clears, and settles transactions — the same core function performed by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Built from the ground up by RMO, the network powers every swipe, tap, and digital payment made within the RMO ecosystem.

How It Works

What a payment network does.

Every time you use a debit card, credit card, or digital wallet, a payment network works behind the scenes. The RMO Payments Network is that infrastructure for RMO members.

1

Authorization

When a member makes a purchase, the network receives the transaction, verifies the account, checks for fraud, and approves or declines the payment — all in real time.

2

Clearing

After approval, the network calculates the final transaction amount, applies any applicable fees, and prepares settlement instructions between the paying and receiving parties.

3

Settlement

The network completes the transfer of funds — moving money from the cardholder’s account to the merchant’s account. Because RMO controls the full path, settlement is faster.

Capabilities

Built for the modern financial ecosystem.

Closed-Loop Architecture

RMO controls the entire transaction lifecycle — from the card or wallet to the network to settlement. Fewer intermediaries means lower costs, faster processing, and tighter security.

Real-Time Processing

Transactions are authorized, cleared, and settled on RMO’s own infrastructure — enabling real-time decisions and accelerated fund availability for members and businesses.

End-to-End Security

Real-time fraud monitoring, tokenization, and end-to-end encryption are built into the network layer — not bolted on. Full PCI DSS compliance at every stage of the transaction.

Multi-Product Support

The network powers RMO debit cards, credit cards, RMOPay™ digital wallet, QuickPay, and peer-to-peer transfers — all running natively on a single infrastructure.

Ecosystem Integration

The payments network connects directly to RMO banking, lending, insurance, and business services — enabling seamless movement of money across the entire RMO ecosystem.

Interoperability

While RMO operates its own network, the infrastructure also supports transactions routed through Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover where needed.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is the RMO Payments Network?

The RMO Payments Network is a proprietary closed-loop payment infrastructure built and operated by RMO. It functions as a card network — similar in role to Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover — routing, authorizing, and settling transactions across the RMO ecosystem.

Is RMO a card network like Visa or Mastercard?

Yes. RMO operates its own payment network that authorizes, clears, and settles transactions — the same core function as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. RMO is the fifth major U.S. payment network.

What is a closed-loop payment network?

A closed-loop network means the same organization controls the full transaction lifecycle — from the card or digital wallet to the network infrastructure to settlement. This allows for lower costs, faster processing, and tighter security compared to open-loop networks that rely on multiple intermediaries.

Who can use the RMO Payments Network?

The RMO Payments Network is available to RMO members — individuals and businesses. Members access the network through RMO-issued debit cards, credit cards, and the RMOPay™ digital wallet. Businesses can also accept RMO network transactions through RMO Merchant Services.

What products run on the RMO Payments Network?

RMO debit cards, credit cards, RMOPay™ digital wallet, QuickPay, and peer-to-peer transfers all run natively on the RMO Payments Network. The network also powers internal fund movements across the RMO ecosystem.

How does the RMO network handle security?

The RMO Payments Network features built-in real-time fraud monitoring, tokenization, end-to-end encryption, and full PCI DSS compliance. Because RMO controls the entire transaction path, security is applied at every stage rather than relying on third parties.
