A digital wallet is an app on your phone, watch, or other device that securely stores your payment cards so you can pay without the physical card. Common examples include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

How to use a digital wallet:

  1. Open the wallet app on your device and add your RMO card — you may be asked to verify it through MyRMO.
  2. In stores: hold your device near a contactless ("tap to pay") terminal and confirm with your face, fingerprint, or passcode.
  3. Online and in apps: choose the digital wallet at checkout instead of typing in your card number.

Why digital wallets are secure: a digital wallet does not share your actual card number with the merchant. Instead it uses tokenization — a unique, device-specific number stands in for your real card. Every payment is also approved with your fingerprint, face, or passcode. That makes a tapped payment generally more secure than swiping a physical card.

If your device is lost or stolen: the cards in your wallet are protected by your device lock, and you can remove them remotely. You should still report a lost or stolen card if needed.
