RMO

Best vision insurance plans of 2026.

A plain-English comparison of the vision plans you can buy on your own — what they cost, what you actually pay at the exam, and which one fits which kind of household. Updated for 2026.

4 Plans Compared Real Pricing Independently Researched
How We Compared

Four plans, six dimensions.

We pulled live pricing and benefit pages from each provider and rated every plan on the things that actually affect your wallet at the optical counter.

We looked at: monthly premium, exam copay, lens copay, frame allowance, contact lens benefit, and whether you can use glasses and contacts in the same year. RMO MyVision is one of the plans we operate, and we’re upfront about that — the comparisons below use the same public pricing and terms a shopper would see going directly to each provider.

If a plan wins for a specific use case, we say so — even when it isn’t MyVision. The goal is to point each reader at the right plan, not to push every reader at one product.

Which One Should You Pick?

Match the plan to your situation.

You want the lowest real costPremium + copays combined
RMO MyVision I ($8/mo). A $5 EyeMed plan looks cheaper until you add exam and material copays and discover there’s no frame allowance. MyVision I is $8 with a $0 exam, $0 lenses, and a real $150 frame allowance. See MyVision I →
You wear glasses and contactsBoth in the same year
RMO MyVision III or IV. Every other plan here forces a choice between a frame allowance and a contact allowance each year. MyVision III ($22) and IV ($30) give you both. Compare III and IV →
You see a specific independent ODNetwork matters most
Check VSP first. VSP has the largest independent-optometrist network, so if you’re loyal to a particular doctor, confirm they take VSP. If they also take MyVision, you’ll pay less. MyVision vs VSP →
You shop at LensCrafters / TargetRetail-optical convenience
EyeMed is strong at retail chains and online. MyVision is accepted at independent and retail providers alike with no copay — worth a side-by-side. MyVision vs EyeMed →
You’re considering LASIKFixed-dollar help, not a discount
RMO MyVision II, III, or IV. Up to $1,500 as a real allowance toward laser correction, versus the percentage-off “discount” the other plans offer. See LASIK allowances →
